Graduate Research Assistant

Liza, a Ph.D. candidate, is primarily focused on exploring the relationship between opioid-induced hyperalgesia, migraine, and migraine aura. She is examining the role of the pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PACAP) and its receptor as a potential mechanism for all three conditions. Additionally, Liza is actively involved in identifying the delta opioid receptor as a novel therapeutic target for these disorders. In 2019, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, earning a BS degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Chemistry. Outside of the lab, Liza enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading books, and engaging in ballroom dancing.
